Western Australian Human Rights Act New - Report of the Consultation Committee for a Proposed WA Human Rights Act The Western Australian Government is committed to protecting the human rights of our community. To foster a human rights culture within the community and Government, the Attorney General has proposed a Human Rights Act. A consultation committee, chaired by Fred Chaney AO, consulted the community and has recommended to government how best to protect and promote human rights in this State. The closing date for written submissions was 31 August. The committee's report was provided to the Attorney General on 16 November 2007.
The final report of the consultation committee was released by the Attorney General on 20 December 2007. The report and some of the submissions to the consultation committee can be downloaded from this site. The Human Rights web site will be disbanded on 30 June 2008, after which the final report will be available from the Department of the Attorney General's web site at www.justice.wa.gov.au |
